A phrase often repeated throughout the camelid communities is:

“They are so stoic. Once they really begin to act as though something may be wrong…
something is usually really wrong!”

  • What behaviors in our llamas and alpacas have we missed before that point?

  • How does an ill prey animal behave and how does the herd assist?

  • Have you ever wondered how it happens that after a seemingly successful day of halter training your llama or alpaca, the next day goes as if no previous training had ever taken place?

  • How would you decide if a depressed behavior might be internally or externally motivated?

  • Can they break a lower jaw by a blow to the top of the head?

This webinar is an online workshop using your computer and telephone.

  • I will be presenting a series of photos of llama and alpaca behavior.

  • The class will be able to talk to one another using telephone conferencing or Voice Over (the) Internet Protocol (VoIP).

  • The webinar will explore llama and alpaca behavior and communication from specific individual behaviors to herd responses.

  • Through visuals and class discussion, participants will learn the subtle nuances of camelid behavior and how these cues play an important part in our herd management and training.
